PROGRAMME THROUGH THE EYES OF OUR STUDENTS
Sicily, Italy, May – June 2022
The main reason why I applied for Erasmus was that I would be able to experience a new culture; some may even say or call it a new way of life. Sure, Sicily is a bit dirty, what I mean by that is that from time to time I had to walk through some piles of garbage like a racoon… but my God, the beaches and nightlife were awesome.
As soon as we arrived at our accommodation, I immediately knew that those two weeks would be legendary and they certainly were. The apartment house we stayed in was spacious, clean, beautiful from the outside and inside as well. It was just a minute walk from the beach… all of us felt like royalty!
In terms of food, our breakfasts and dinners were paid for, which was great and we had the opportunity to try all the local dishes. We had to make our own lunches, which allowed us to be creative, learn how to work with our allowances and also cook something we enjoy and love.
What I liked most about Erasmus was the company I worked for. It was a small business in the middle of the city selling phones and routers. My job was to design posters and stickers in Adobe Photoshop that would attract new customers but also fit in shop displays and look professional. Every day, me and my boss would meet in his office, I’d turn on my laptop on and we’d discuss daily jobs and work together
I think Erasmus had an enormous impact on my personality and career. I’m more laid-back now, talkative, friendly, but also serious when I need to be. It helped me realize that a true graphic designer should be less tense and more creative because great ideas are born in a relaxed, friendly environment.
I’d highly recommend to all of my schoolmates who are thinking about applying for Erasmus to give it a go. You will learn a new language, explore new places, try new cuisine, get to know new customs and traditions, and on top of that, you will gain some valuable working experience in a foreign company in the field of printing and publishing! So, will next Erasmus project be the one you apply for?
